The Puget Sound area is enjoying sunshine and a dry start to Wednesday, but rain is knocking on the door and set to arrive tonight.

On Tuesday, a strong solar flare erupted from the sun, sending energy across the galaxy, which made for spectacular imagery of the invisible light.

When the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha'apai volcano erupted, it caused pressure disturbances that led to winds of up to 450 mph to reach space.

We'll continue to run cool this week with high temperatures barely making their way to 60 most days. Tuesday looks no different!

Isolated showers will push through Western Washington today, but more sunshine will be in the mix with highs staying cool, in the mid 50s.

More and more disastrous wildfires have been sparking up in western Washington in the last several seasons. 

If you're hoping for a big warmup: don't get too excited. We stay chilly almost all week. Highs today will only boost to the mid 50s – solidly ten degrees below-average!

Dress in warm layers for Mother's Day – we're tracking temps well below average, and for some areas there may be small hail, graupel and lightning.

Cool and showery conditions continue to be our theme.  We only saw 55 at the airport today and that's 10 degrees below average. 

Mother's Day will be chilly with mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies. A couple showers and thunderstorms could bubble up, but it'll be much drier than Saturday's rain.

The National Weather Service in Spokane said that the tornado touched down near I-90. They received reports of trees down and two trailers flipped. Friday's tornado was the first in Spokane County since August 9, 2016.

Another day of below average temperatures across the Pacific Northwest.  Highs Friday only climbing into the low to mid 50s.  Seattle hit 55 today.  Our average high temperature jumps to 65 Saturday.
