Seattle weather: Dry start to the year, light rain and snow to return

We started off the new year mainly dry and cool. The dry weather won't last long as light rain will return by morning. Snow levels will lower to around 3000'. Drivers should be prepared for winter driving conditions beginning tomorrow through the weekend. Stevens could pick up close to a foot by the end of the weekend. Rain will generally be scattered and light with totals around .10".

Another cool night ahead as temperatures are forecast to dip into the 30s by Thursday morning. If the temperatures get cool enough overnight and the moisture increases, there is a chance that folks from around Everett to Fall City and northward could see a brief rain/snow mix early in the morning. No accumulations are expected.

Another cool night around Western Washington as temperatures dip into the 30s.

Up in the mountains, we are expecting to see accumulating snow! Snow levels will lower to 3000-4000' with chances of snow in the forecast beginning tomorrow through the weekend. Stevens Pass could see between 12-15" by the end of Sunday.

Unsettled weather will return to Western Washington, bringing rounds of snow to our mountains. 

In addition to the light rain and mountain snow, we will be tracking increasing easterly winds. The Cascade gap winds will increase from Thursday night into Friday. Forecast gusts could be near 45mph. No advisories have been issued, but we will continue to monitor the winds as we get closer to the end of the week.

A wet and breezy first weekend of the new year, with mountain snow on the way too. Looking ahead to next week as many get back to work and school after the long break, some drier weather may be ahead by Tuesday and Wednesday.
