Seattle police recover guns, arrest teen for assault in Capitol Hill

SEATTLE - A 19-year-old man was arrested Saturday after allegedly pointing a gun at several people in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. During the arrest, police recovered multiple handguns with extended magazines.
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), around 2:39 a.m., officers patrolling near the intersection of 10th Avenue and East Pike Street were flagged down by victims who said someone inside a silver car had pointed a gun at them.
Officers later found a car matching the description and initiated a traffic stop at a gas station in the 1500 block of Broadway.
What they're saying:
The SPD said four people exited the car: the 19-year-old driver and three passengers, aged 14, 19, and 20. All were detained due to the weapon report. A records check revealed that both adult passengers had violent felony histories.
The 19-year-old driver was identified as the suspect who pointed the gun and was arrested for assault.
After obtaining a search warrant for the car, officers recovered three handguns, each with an extended magazine. The SPD said one of the guns appeared to have been modified with a switch to make it fully automatic. Another had its serial number scratched off.
Inside the car, officers also found two black ski masks and three blue bandannas.
What's next:
The SPD’s Homicide and Assault Unit is leading the investigation.
The 19-year-old suspect was booked into King County Jail for second-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
