WSDOT contractor hit, injured on I-405 in Renton
RENTON, Wash. - A contractor with the Washington State Department of Transportation was injured after their truck was hit in a work zone on I-405 in Renton early Wednesday morning.
WSDOT says the contractor was reducing lanes in a work zone when the collision happened, totaling the truck and its equipment.
The contractor was taken to the hospital and is thankfully ok, the department said.
A digital message sign and hard static signs in the truck were destroyed. WSDOT posted photos of the damaged vehicles, along with a battered sign and barrier.
WSDOT says this crash is another reminder of the challenges crews face on local roads, asking drivers to slow down, stay alert, and be aware of active work zones.
This comes just over a week after another WSDOT worker was hit by a car near Leavenworth.
