Dan Griffin is an Emmy-winning journalist who has spent more than a decade covering local news. He returned to FOX 13 News in December 2025. Dan has built a career defined by impactful news reporting and a deep commitment to the communities he serves.
Dan’s journey began after he graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2012. His first television news reporting job took him to WAOW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin, where he covered breaking news, intense winter weather, and Beef-A-Rama in Minocqua. Next, he moved to Huntington-Charleston, West Virginia, in 2013 to work at WSAZ-TV. While there, he gained a national perspective covering the Charleston water crisis and the Kim Davis marriage license controversy in Kentucky. In 2015, he joined WLWT-TV in Cincinnati, where he spent six years as a lead reporter covering breaking news and crime, severe weather and tornadoes, the inner workings of city government, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since arriving in Seattle in 2022, Dan has become a trusted fixture in Pacific Northwest news. He first joined FOX 13 News as part of the Good Day Seattle team. His relentless approach to breaking news earned him an Emmy Award for his coverage of the catastrophic flash-ice pileup on I-90 that led to a total highway closure. He departed television news in 2024.
After a brief tenure in a communications role for the City of Seattle, which provided him with a unique inside look at local government operations, Dan realized his true calling remained in local news. He returned to the FOX 13 newsroom and is dedicated to telling the stories that matter to people living across western Washington.
