The United States experienced its third-highest number of billion-dollar weather and climate disasters on record in 2025, according to new analysis from Climate Central. Adam Smith, who leads Climate Central’s Billion-Dollar Disasters project, said during an interview with FOX 13 that the nation was hit by 23 separate disasters last year, resulting in 276 deaths and an estimated $115 billion in damage. Only 2023 and 2024 saw more such costly events.
