In honor of the NHL Winter Classic happening in Seattle, the NHL and the Seattle Kraken are teaming up to make the sport of hockey more accessible to athletes in Pierce County.

Justin Schultz scored the game-winning goal in overtime in his return to the lineup for the Seattle Kraken as they notched their fourth straight victory in a 2-1 decision over the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night.

Alex Wennberg scored the deciding goal six minutes into the third period, and Chris Driedger made 37 saves on 38 shots in his first appearance with the Kraken in 18 months in a 2-1 Seattle victory over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night.

Seattle is days away from the 2024 NHL Winter Classic, with the Seattle Kraken hosting the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Jan. 1 at T-Mobile Park.
