The Covington community is mourning Air Force Capt. Ariana Savino, one of six service members killed when a KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq. Savino, a Kentwood High School graduate and Central Washington University ROTC alum, served as a pilot with the 99th Air Refueling Squadron and logged more than 300 combat hours during deployments in the Middle East.

Judge Sandra Widlan sentenced Kolby Delamar to 11 years in prison followed by 3 years of supervision by the Department of Corrections. He pleaded guilty to Assault 1st Degree and Attempted Robbery 1st Degree. The sentence was lower than the 12.25 years that prosecutors asked for but is in the middle range of the sentencing guidelines as established by the state legislature.
