Kent Mayor Dana Ralph says a National Weather Service flash flood warning issued during the Desimone levee breach sowed panic, clogged roads and slowed repair efforts, arguing the alert overstated the immediate risk. City leaders say they had planned targeted evacuation messages before the broad warning prompted traffic jams and confusion.

President Trump has formally designated fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction, escalating the federal response as the DEA reports sweeping enforcement results in Western Washington. In an interview, Seattle DEA Special Agent in Charge Dave Reames says Operation Fentanyl Free America seized nearly 100,000 counterfeit pills and 65 kilograms of fentanyl powder in October, which led to 18 arrests.

After devastating floods inundated communities across western Washington, thousands of homeowners are now confronting a difficult recovery.

Andrew Baim was sentenced to 24 years in prison for running over and killing Nick Valison after a confrontation involving a stolen U-Haul in Ravensdale.

Mukilteo police say 17-year-old Gabriel Ehrmin, who disappeared from his home near Mukilteo Speedway on Dec. 9, has been found dead. Detectives, along with the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office, are now conducting an active death investigation.
