Seattle cop initially charged with DUI pleads to lesser charge, gets 2 days in jail
SEATTLE -- A Seattle police officer charged with DUI was able to plead guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving, the Seattle Times reported Monday.
The City Attorney's Office told the Times that police officer Marie Gochnour was got the reduced charge because of "significant proof problems" with the DUI case, including not being able to locate the original 911 caller on the night of the arrest.
Gochnour and fellow officer Sean Moore were off duty last Dec. 17 when they were arrested for DUI. A 911 caller reported that their car had hit a pole in the Sodo district.
According to the Times, Gochnour registered a breath-alcohol content of 0.234 percent and 0.247 percent, while Moore's registered at 0.161 percent and 0.149 percent. The state's legal limit is 0.08 percent.
Gochnour was sentenced to two days in jail, with 362 days suspended.
Moore's trial is set for Sept. 3.
