18-year-old suspect pleads not guilty to 2024 triple fatal hit-and-run crash in Everett
Teen charged in 2024 deadly hit-and-run in Everett
The man suspecting of a hit-and-run crash in Everett in 2024 that killed three people and then fled to California has pleaded not guilty after being extradited back to Washington state.
EVERETT, Wash. - A teenager suspected of a 2024 triple fatal hit-and-run crash in Everett was charged on Monday. The Everett Police Department said the suspect, who was underage at the time of the crash, ran from the crime scene and fled to California.
During a hearing at the Snohomish County Courthouse, 18-year-old Giovanny Aparicio Medina was charged with 11 counts, including murder in the second degree, vehicular assault, and hit-and-run (death). Snohomish County prosecutors called the incident "catastrophic."
Cindy Sullivan is the mother of Heather Sullivan, one of the three people killed in the hit-and-run. For 16 months, Cindy had so many questions about the suspect behind the wheel who caused her daughter’s death. She got her answer from investigators in March, when Aparicio Medina was arrested in Los Angeles.
"I still don’t totally believe what happened, it was just horrific," said Cindy. "Almost every bone in her body was broken."
The backstory:
Heather was with a group of people outside a 7-11 on Airport Road in Everett on November 9, 2024. Court records said Aparicio Medina didn’t have a learner’s permit or any form of identification at that time. Police said the teen was driving at speeds as high as 100 miles per hour, running red lights while trying to out-run a sheriff’s deputy’s traffic stop.

The teenage suspect lost control of the car and crashed into Heather and her group. Two people survived the deadly crash but suffered multiple fractures.
Police said Aparicio Medina and passengers in his car ran away from the crime scene. While the passengers didn’t get far, the suspected driver did. Police said in early 2025, their extensive investigation and a multi-jurisdictional effort revealed Aparicio Medina was hiding in California.
With the help of the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, the 18-year-old suspect was arrested in Los Angeles on March 9. He was flown back to Washington in late March ahead of the court hearing.
"I do want to say thank you to the Everett Police Department. They really did all they can," Cindy told FOX 13 the day after the suspect’s arrest.
Aparicio Medina remains in custody at the Snohomish County Jail on $1,000,000 bail.
