Oregon’s attorney general has opened an investigation. Washington Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Emily Randall are calling for accountability, while Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said the city has limited authority over federal agents but is working with the police chief, city attorney and immigrant rights groups on options to keep residents safe.

Families of four University of Idaho students killed in 2022 have filed a lawsuit against Washington State University, where Bryan Kohberger was a graduate student and teaching assistant before he pleaded guilty to the murders in July.
