Seattle's dry, chilly stretch will likely continue until late New Year's Day.

Calm winds will lead to another round of fog overnight, especially from Tacoma southward. As temperatures approach freezing again, pockets of freezing fog and icy spots will be possible Tuesday morning. 

A section of Highway 2 partially reopened Monday near Stevens Pass, restoring limited access to the ski area after flooding and mudslides closed the route. 

After tracking pockets of freezing fog earlier this morning in the South Sound and southwest interior, we expect mostly cloudy skies this afternoon with highs only lifting to the mid 40s for most.

We are slowly climbing our way out of the “big dark”!   While sunsets are still a little before 4:30pm, by January 25th we will return to 5pm sunsets, then by the end of February 25th we will be back to near 6pm.

The Puget Sound region finally sees a day without NWS weather alerts! A cool, drying pattern will continue into the workweek.

Saturday night's convergence zone brought a light dusting of snow to parts of the lowlands, but the mountains scored big with the much-needed snow.  Amounts ranged between 7–15" in our Cascades passes and ski resorts. 

Western Washington lowlands are drying out, and getting colder, as mountain snow ramps up.

A drier weekend is ahead with chilly nights and foggy mornings. It will be a quieter end of the year with a few showers returning by New Year's Day.
