Oregon mom accused of killing teenage son ruled unfit for trial
PORTLAND -- A judge on Wednesday ruled that a Gresham, Ore., woman accused of fatally shooting her 17-year-old son in the back is unable to assist in her own defense at trial.
According to KPTV in Portland, a judge made that ruling in the case of Dianne Davidoff, 42.
Dianne Davidoff was arrested at her home on the night of Sept. 25, after 911 calls of gunshots being fired. Officers found the son, Jacob Davidoff, dead at the scene.
Investigators said his mother shot him in the back.
Police have not released a possible motive in this case. However, neighbors described Dianne Davidoff to KPTV-TV as troubled, fearful and possibly suffering from delusions.
One neighbor told FOX 12 she had expressed fear someone was after her and had purchased a gun several weeks earlier.
On Wednesday, she was sent to the Oregon State Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. A status check on the case is set for Dec. 9.
Dianne Davidoff has been charged with murder with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. She pleaded not guilty.
