Snohomish County names new sheriff: Ty Trenary
EVERETT -- The Snohomish County Council voted 5-0 Monday to appoint Ty Trenary sheriff. He succeeds John Lovick, who resigned June 3 to accept the position of Snohomish County executive.
The 47-year-old Trenary has been a police officer in Washington state for more than 25 years. He started his law enforcement career in Eatonville, where he also served as a D.A.R.E. officer until joining the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office in 1991.
In the Sheriff’s Office, Trenary has worked his way up from master patrol deputy to captain, where he most recently served as the leader of the North Precinct. He served as the contract police chief in Stanwood from 2008-12. Trenary has served in patrol, community policing, and has also worked in administration by managing the training unit and assisting with recruiting and hiring.
Trenary lives in Marysville with his wife, Vicki, and two daughters.
“I believe that Snohomish County is an excellent place to raise a family and I want to focus on the feeling of safety in our community,” he said. “Dedication to excellence and community partnerships are key to the success of our organization.”
