Rain showers and thunderstorms will push north into Western Washington Saturday evening, bringing a potential for lightning, hail, heavy downpours, and strong localized wind gusts.

With the possible chance of thunderstorms, hail and heavy winds in the Puget Sound forecast Saturday evening, the weather could spoil weekend plans. 

Beaches from Florida to Maine are expecting an increase in rip currents and surf that could make ocean ventures dangerous through the weekend.

A disturbance off the Oregon coast will eventually slide northward Saturday night, increasing chances for storms throughout much of Western Washington.  Gusty winds, lightning, small hail along with heavy rain will be possible beginning in the evening through overnight. 

A wildfire roaring across Mount Jupiter near Hood Canal has tripled in size overnight, and is eating its way into Olympic National Forest.

The U.S. Forest Service announced Friday that several camping and hiking trails in Olympic National Forest are now closed due to the fire.

It is a calm and cloudy morning across the Puget Sound area, with more sunshine expected the second half of Friday.

Clouds to sunbreaks on Friday with highs in the low 70s, and a stormy Saturday evening ahead.

Thursday will be cooler with partly cloudy skies and high temperatures back into the mid 70s.

Mt. Jupiter is burning, with smoke spreading through the Olympic National Forest and down to the banks of Hood Canal.
