A toasty end to the week with record highs set at both Olympia and Sea-Tac today.  Afternoon highs soared into the triple digits east of the mountains.  It was a little cooler along the coast as onshore flow will slowly ramp up in the next few days. 

More blistering heat is forecast for the Seattle area through at least Monday with a gradual cooling around the region on Tuesday. Fire danger remains elevated over the mountains. 

Hot, dry and unstable weather conditions caused increased fire activity in the area of the Bear Gulch Fire over the weekend. A red flag warning remains in effect through Monday.

It was a toasty day around Western Washington as afternoon highs approached records today.  Sea-Tac was just a couple of degrees shy of the record.  Olympia hit 93 today, which is a new record high for this date. 

A somewhat rare extreme heat warning is posted for the Seattle area through early Tuesday due to sweltering temperatures and elevated overnight lows. Multiple heat alerts are in effect elsewhere in western Washington to account for widespread highs in the mid 80s to mid 90s.

A Heat Advisory and Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for Western Washington through Tuesday morning. The warning now includes the Seattle and Tacoma metro areas with highs in the 90s this weekend.

This weekend, the weather in the Seattle area is expected to be hot, and for many, that means heading out to local parks to cool off.

Seattle and Western Washington are bracing for sweltering, scorching temperatures over the next several days.

A 2.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Big Lake, Washington early Friday morning.

The setup will also translate into no hurricane concerns for the continental United States for the foreseeable future, as developing cyclones will turn away from North America into the open Atlantic.
