Seattle weather: Rain and winds pick up this weekend

A warm front arrived in western Washington today, keeping afternoon highs very mild. We topped out near 60 degrees in several spots. Sea-Tac hit 59 degrees, which tied the record set on this date back in 2018.

Afternoon highs were again well above average today, nearing 60 degrees in some spots.

While Friday night is expected to be generally dry, a cold front will sweep through Saturday morning, bringing widespread rainfall back to our area. Snow levels will drop slightly, allowing for a few inches of snow through the weekend.

Another front will sweep through Western Washington, bringing another chance of showers.

Winds are forecast to pick up as the cold front comes through overnight tonight. Easterly Cascade gap winds will gust to near 50 mph by early Saturday morning.

A wind advisory will go into effect around 1 a.m. till 7 a.m. on Saturday. Winds will still be breezy at times even after this time, but below the advisory criteria.

Gusty Cascade gap winds have prompted a wind advisory for early Saturday morning. 

A parade of fronts will swing through during the next week, keeping our weather very unsettled. As more folks hit the roads and travel for the holidays, keep an eye on the passes. Christmas Day is looking very soggy. Chances of rain are possible through the end of the week.
