Reign FC to be sold to owner of French soccer club

The parent company of French soccer club Olympique Lyonnais is in exclusive talks to purchase Reign FC of the National Women’s Soccer League.The OL Groupe and the Reign announced the deal Monday and the transaction is expected to be completed on Jan. 31.Olympique Lyonnais, more commonly known as Lyon, plays in Ligue 1 on the men’s side and Division 1 Feminine on the women’s side.

Reign FC eliminated from NWSL playoffs after 1-4 loss to NC Courage

CARY, N.C. (AP) — Debinha scored on a free kick in extra time to snap a tie, and the North Carolina Courage went on to defeat Reign FC 4-1 in extra time on Sunday to advance to the National Women's Soccer League championship game.The Courage, winners of the NWSL Shield for the third straight year with a league-best 15-5-4 record, will host the Chicago Red Stars, who beat the Portland Thorns 1-0 in the other semifinal.Heather O'Reilly, who is retiring at the end of this season, scored on a penalty kick in the 88th minute to give the Courage the lead.

Reign FC match postponed after recent Tacoma rainfall

TACOMA, Wash. -- Wednesday's Reign FC match has been postponed after recent rainfall.The field at Cheney Stadium has taken on too much water this week and officials say it's unfit for soccer.
