Hot WA weather raises wildfire concerns

With western Washington experiencing hot and dry weather on Wednesday, and strong winds expected on Thursday, there's fears that wildfire danger of the east side of the state could get worse.

'Second Creek Fire' burning near Leavenworth, WA

Crews are battling a wildfire that sparked just north of Leavenworth on Tuesday. The Second Creek Fire is estimated at 63 acres as of 9:30 p.m. and is burning about eight miles north of Leavenworth. The fire grew about 100 acres an hour after the DNR's 2:56 p.m. post, eventually hitting a peak at 153 acres on Tuesday afternoon before first responders were able to shrink the blaze.

Vandal in truck tears up famous WA light display, sledding hill in Leavenworth

Deputies have released a description of a suspect who they say vandalized a park in Downtown Leavenworth over the weekend. Late Saturday night, on Dec. 22, the ground in Gazebo Park on Front Street was vandalized by a truck. Deputies described the suspect vehicle as a 2024 silver Toyota Tundra with Texas license plate TTR1528. The suspected driver appeared to be a man in his 20s to 30s.
