Flood fears in the Pacific Northwest are growing as rivers and streams in Washington and Oregon start to rise thanks to a series of atmospheric river storms that are delivering heavy rain to the region, which is now melting mountain snow and sending water into low-lying areas.

An atmospheric river weather pattern is blasting heavy, excessive rain across Western Washington. This will elevate the threat for flooding of many kinds, particularly for local rivers, as well as raising the risk for landslides and strong winds. 

Rising rivers and streams in Snohomish County are getting dangerously close to where thousands of people live and work.

A strong atmospheric river will impact the Cascades and Western Washington with heavy rain and a potential for river flooding through midweek.

With the National Weather Service issuing a flood watch for most of western Washington until Wednesday, an atmospheric river could bring potential flooding to multiple rivers this week and ‘major flooding’ to the Snohomish River.

After feet of snow accumulated over the Cascade mountains, a good amount of it will melt thanks to the arrival of an atmospheric river event. 

November's dry spell gave way to mountain snow this weekend, but the sudden snowfall has avalanche experts on high alert.

After a wet & gusty morning paired with heavy mountain snow, conditions have calmed down this evening. Scattered showers and a few more inches of snow are possible overnight. 

After a windy morning, we're tracking on-and-off snow for the mountain passes today. There's also a big concern over various flooding threats Sunday into Wednesday.

Winter weather brought high winds and snow to parts of the Pacific Northwest, knocking out power in some areas and dumping fresh snow across the Cascade Range.
