Perfect summer weather continues in Seattle this weekend with highs Sunday to reach the mid-to-upper 70s. The 80s stage a comeback in the Emerald City on Monday. After patches of stratus clouds this morning, we expect brilliant, abundant sunshine this afternoon. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 70s with a few spots nudging closer to 80 degrees.

Record heat has hit Florida hard this weekend and Tampa Bay has now hit a new high temperature milestone.

The chances of being struck by lightning in any given year is 1 in 1.43 million, according to the National Lightning Safety Council.

The marine push will return on Sunday morning as a disturbance passing to the north of us will keep the onshore flow going through the weekend.   Skies will clear later turning partly cloudy. 

This weekend will feature murky mornings and sunnier afternoons. Hotter weather will develop in Seattle next week. 

Highs Saturday will be a few degrees warmer as clouds will clear a little quicker than Friday. Temperatures will warm only to the mid to low 70s.

We're forecasting cooler weather on Friday in Seattle. There have been reports of light drizzle or light rain in the region. Drier weather is likely this afternoon.

Friday will be the coolest day this week, with temperatures in the low 70s. Mostly cloudy skies will continue through the afternoon with a few possible sunbreaks.

Slightly cooler weather is ahead for Seattle on Thursday after highs skyrocketed to the low to mid 80s on Wednesday.

A wildfire burning near Bingen along the Columbia River has surpassed 11,000 acres, though some progress has been made on the fire's containment, according to a Thursday morning update.
