Christmas Day started off relatively calm with isolated showers. Heading into the overnight hours, up to a foot of snow will roll into the mountain regions for a much needed snowpack boost.

In the morning, the strongest winds are focused over the Cascade gaps (e.g. North Bend and Enumclaw). We've seen forceful gusts to 60+ mph over Crystal Mountain and the South Cascades.

A large upper level low is just offshore of northern California and is slowly moving northward into Wednesday. The strong system will move along the I-5 corridor right into western Washington, bringing a strong round of winds for Christmas Eve Day.

Strong winds are sticking around Western Washington into Christmas Eve, but Christmas Day is looking quiet.
