A few clouds and showers will linger into early Wednesday through midday. Most of the moisture will be in the north sound, with more sunshine to the south.

Local aid organizations and community leaders are gearing up to aid Jamaica residents hit hard by the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.

Hurricane Melissa is making landfall in Jamaica as a catastrophic Category 5 storm, the strongest to hit the island since recordkeeping began 174 years ago.

The next round of widespread rain hits Seattle Tuesday after sunset through early Wednesday morning.

Tuesday's highs will be in the mid 50s with mostly cloudy skies for most of the day. Rain and wind by the evening commute.

The next seven days will bring rounds of rain and cool temperatures to the Puget Sound area.

Western Washington saw some recent high-elevation snow in the Cascades over the weekend, and conditions could still cause occasional issues for drivers. 

Power crews took advantage of a break in the weather Sunday afternoon to restore power to hundreds of customers in the Puget Sound region. 

Hurricane Melissa intensified to Category 5 strength Monday as it neared Jamaica. Forecasters said it would be the strongest hurricane to hit the island since record keeping began in 1851.

On and off showers will continue overnight as lows cool into the upper 30s and low 40s.  Temperatures will be near freezing over the passes with more snow on the way. 

After a windstorm Saturday night left tens of thousands without power in Puget Sound, winds are easing in Seattle and around the region on Sunday. Snow over Stevens and White Passes through tonight could cause occasional issues for drivers.
