Back-to-back wet weather systems will impact western Washington the next two days with widespread rain and mountain snow.

Unsettled weather returns to Western Washington as we close out the first weekend of the new year.  Another disturbance will arrive overnight Thursday into Friday with more lowland rain and mountain snow on the way.  Rainfall will again be generally light, but more widespread than on Thursday.  

More snow is on the way in the mountains with widespread rain set to hit the Puget Sound lowlands. Here's what to expect:

A wet and breezy first weekend of the new year, with mountain snow on the way too. Next week as many get back to work and school after the long break, drier weather is ahead.

The next storm system to impact Western Washington will approach Thursday night into Friday, bringing breezy easterly winds and rain.

Showers will return for midnight, so for those outside for celebrations, grab a rain jacket. Tonight we will see a chance of rain for the strike of midnight with lows in the 30s.

A weak weather system will move into Western Washington New Year’s Eve night, bringing a few light showers to the area. But will it get in the way of fireworks?

Skies will start partly cloudy with increasing clouds through the day Tuesday. Highs will be slightly below average, topping out only in the mid to low 40s. Showers will return along the coast by sunset and slowly move inland by midnight.

Light showers will continue through the daylight hours Monday, with a drier New Year’s Eve ahead.

Scattered showers will be around Monday with times of sunbreaks and clouds. Light snow will continue for the mountain passes.
