Temperatures Tuesday will be the coolest of the week, with highs only peaking in the mid to low 40s.

The summit region had gone from experiencing 10 earthquakes per day to 20 per day, officials said during their weekly update on the volcano.

Monday will be Seattle’s best chance for sunshine. Otherwise, the week is looking predominantly cloudy.

The world is closing out its warmest year on record, and if the phrase sounds like a broken record, it is because the record was set just last year.

High pressure will build to start the week, making for more afternoon sunshine after patchy morning fog. Highs will be a few degrees cooler, peaking in the mid 40s.

Scattered lowland rain and mountain snow will gradually taper this afternoon.

After a rounds of heavy rain early this morning, we got a short dry break during the late afternoon.  Another round of moisture will push in overnight with the cold front.  This will bring lowland rain back along with heavy mountain snow. A weak ridge of high pressure will build in late Sunday, shutting off our precipitation chances. 

This weekend in Western Washington, we’re forecasting lowland rain, breezy weather and mountain snow.

After our soggy weekend, we will get a brief break from the rain on Monday and Tuesday before another chance returns by the middle of next week.
