Relief efforts are underway, with government agencies and aid organizations like the American Red Cross, Samaritan's Purse, and the Salvation Army providing assistance.

Helene left a trail of widespread damage across the U.S. Southeast, killing at least 120 people and hundreds of others still unaccounted for.

Tropical Storm Kirk (formerly Tropical Depression 12) formed over the Atlantic Ocean Monday morning and is forecast to become a "large and powerful hurricane" later this week, the National Hurricane Center said.
