For most of western Washington the first week of February looks cool and wet. But will it be cold enough to snow in the lowlands?

An unidentified skier reportedly fell roughly 1,000 feet and sustained a leg injury near Stevens Pass in Washington.

A 3.8 magnitude earthquake struck near York Harbor, Maine, on Monday, approximately 7 miles south of the coastal area, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Another cold night ahead with a hard freeze forecast for Puget Sound as overnight lows drop into the 20s.  Icy spots will be around in the morning, especially on bridges an overpasses.  Use caution when driving early on Monday morning. 

You may want to think twice before leaving your car running unattended to warm up this winter.

A strong upper level ridge of high pressure will remain over the Pacific Northwest through the middle of the week, bringing cold mornings and sunny skies.

Clear skies and a cool northerly flow will keep us cold overnight with another hard freeze forecast for Western Washington.  Continue to keep your pipes covered along with tender plants.  Bring pets indoors and be sure to check on those sensitive to the cold.  Overnight lows will “warm" to above freezing by late next week. 

Rain is officially in the forecast after an extraordinarily long stretch of dry weather in Seattle.

Another picture-perfect sunset along the Washington coast.  The ridge of high pressure is once again settled over the Pacific NW, clearing our skies and keeping our region dry for days to come.
