We’re forecasting an extended period of dry weather in Seattle.

As the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season ends Saturday, it will indeed go down in the books as a "hyperactive" season that, despite not quite reaching the lofty forecasts for record-breaking activity given in the spring, still reached well-above-average levels, according to researchers at Colorado State University (CSU).

It was a cool Friday around Western Washington today as highs struggled to climb out of the low 40s today.  

Temperatures across Washington and Oregon are generally in the 40s on Friday. Towards eastern Washington, afternoon highs will be about ten degrees cooler.

King County has activated its Tier 2 severe weather response protocols. According to a release, the protocols take into consideration apparent temperature conditions, also known as the Heat Index, along with low temperatures, which together can predict increased life-threatening conditions.

Another round of fog is already developing around Western Washington, reducing visibilities to below a mile in spots.  Much like last night, the fog will impact many spots with some of the most dense locations in the south sound and our valleys, like Snohomish, Carnation and Duvall.  Black Friday shoppers can expect to see more clouds during the day tomorrow as a disturbance passes to our north.  It will remain dry, so no need to take your rain gear out with you. 

Highs will be the coolest of the week Thursday, with temperatures only peaking in the mid to upper 40s.

It will be a great Thanksgiving travel week across Western Washington with cool temperatures.
